Master Morshal was a master for musical theory, and he wasn't mentioned very often. Morshal was very biased against teaching girls to become harpers, and in Dragonsinger he told Menolly, "What is the world coming to when girls presume to be harpers and pretend to compose music!" Morshal knew much about musical theory, but Menolly apparently knew more (Masterharper Robinton once mentioned, "He really is adept at drilling basic theory into rebellious apprentice minds. But Petiron already taught you more than Morshal knows.") and that was another reason Morshal disliked Menolly so much.
