1st level half-elves may choose either Dilettante or Knack for Success as a racial trait. Dilettante grants as an encounter power any one 1st-level at-will attack power from a class the half-elf does not possess.[PH:42] Character optimization is generally split between selecting this trait for added benefits, and dilettante for flexibility. In general, this trait is chosen if the at-will powers available from other classes are unappealing and/or sub-optimal (because they require a different primary statistic for the attack roll, or because they require a different weapon or implement).
