Clitheroe Council School was where Anne Beaumont, the future Annie Walker, was educated in her home town of Clitheroe, in the early 20th century. When Annie insisted on sending Billy and Joan to private schools, Jack felt the need to point out that Annie herself had only received an elementary education, but he wisely kept his mouth shut.
