Although he passed himself off as a scientist in reality Professor Kipple was a fake and loved to experiment on others via literally removing their brains - this was not fatal but did cause his victims to become quite mad: he became quite obsessed himself with getting his hands on the brain of the "alien" that had arrived on the planet (who was in reality an astronaut from Earth).
