He played junior hockey for the Montreal Junior Royals from 1945 to 1948. After that he played for the Montreal Royals from 1948 until the team folded in 1961, when Denis retired. The only other teams that he played for were the Montreal Canadiens, who called him up for three games when he scored an assist, and the Buffalo Bisons, with whom he played two games and scored a goal.
