Pachydermoids were a grouping of species, unrelated and from separate planets, that shared certain physical characteristics. Pachydermoids typically had either trunks or elongated mouths, thick skin, and hoof-like feet. Another typical—but not all-encompassing—trait was the possession of tusks or tusk-like teeth. A number of sentient pachydermoid species existed, as well as non-sentient species.
