The Dawn Sisters are a trio of "stars" visible in the southern sky at dawn and dusk. They never move, unless you yourself move. They were a curiosity to the Pernese, and a riddle to Pern's first "Starsmith" (Astronomer), Wansor. It was later discovered that the Dawn Sisters were actually the ships that brought humanity to Pern, left in geosynchronous orbit.
