Igor Barkov was an agent of the KGB, working for the interests of the Soviet Union. At some point during his career, his encounter with Dr. Indiana Jones was noted by the KGB. In the early twenty-first century, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation noted in the release of Dr. Jones' journal that Barkov had been listed as captured, though it is unclear whether Dr. Jones was connected to his capture.
