Steve Steel is a former attorney and was elected as the third Governor of Providence in 2066. Steel defeated incumbent Tobias Bethesda by a margin of 18%. Bethesda, who rode the Nationalist wave into office in 2062, was a disappointment to many, who hoped he would live up to his family reputation. He served as the governor until 2083, when he was defeated by Bill England, of the Communist party. In 2099, Steel switched his party from Anchor to Libertarian.
