The Earlier full helm is the only piece of earlier armor worn on the head. After 5 hours of use, it will become a pile of early dust, and must be remade using the early furnace in the 2nd age caverns. These helmets can be made at level 91 smithing by combining an earlier helmet-plume with an earlier helmet-mask, which can save a lot of cash, but takes a long time to do.
