When it was suspected that Dev Alahan was suffering from bowel cancer in June 2004, not all of his medical test results had come through and he spent an anxious couple of weeks before being given an appointment at Weatherfield General. The Doctor showed Dev and his fiancée Maya Sharma into his office and, after looking through the patient's notes, was pleased to confirm that the results of Dev's colonoscopy tests had come back as negative and stated that the polyp which had been causing the bleeding was benign.
