Miyata, credited as Miyata's Father (宮田父, lit. miyata chichi) in the anime, is a recurring character in Hajime no Ippo. He is a retired Featherweight boxer and the father of Miyata Ichirou. He worked as a trainer at the Kawahara Boxing Gym until Miyata defeat with Ippo. Many fans refer to him as Miyata-san or Miyata Senior as a way to differentiate him from his son.
