Mr Robinson was a foreman at Ajax Engineering who David Barlow reported to. In May 1961, David was considering becoming a professional footballer with Weatherfield County FC and Donald Ferguson, their manager, came to the factory to see him. Robinson found him on the factory floor and pointed out that while there was glamour and excitement in football, there was a lot to be said for the longevity and security of his current job. David admitted he has much to weigh up and Robinson sincerely wished him the best of luck in the future.
