For Seasons 1 to 4 of the original Gintama, there were 2 ED themes for every 1 OP theme. Starting from its sequel, Gintama' after OP9, and through the second sequel, Gintama°, it has so far became 1 ED to 1 OP. In the Yorinuki Gintama-san series that had finished airing, the first 9 episodes used the opening and ending themes from the Gintama Shinyaku Benizakura Hen movie.
