The Nameless Gnawers were ancient Roots-Demons, embodying the dying of the World.It was unknown if they were truly evil or just spirits of natural decay, though they might have been twisted Spirits of Arda, touched by the evil influence of Morgoth.The Gnawers could be found only in secluded , dark places,close to the Roots of Ambar notably the Underdeeps.
