Hound Dog was an American song of the 1950s. Originally a blues song recorded in 1952, Elvis Presley recorded a rock and roll version in 1956, which became hugely popular, and remains the best known version of the song. In 1957, the Presley recording of Hound Dog was playing on the car radio of Jimmy Keegan's roadster as he and his friends sped across the Nevada desert and raced with the lead car of an Army convoy.
