Melia was the Okeanid Naiad Nymph of the spring or fountain of the main town of the Bebrykes tribe of eastern Bithynia. Melia was loved by Poseidon and bore him Amykos the first king of the Bebrykes. Melia's name comes from one of two words either Meli meaning honey-sweet which refers to the pure waters of the spring, or Melia meaning ash-tree whose woods were used to craft spears.
