T'Pei was a renowned Vulcan scientist in the 23rd century, the wife of Salet and the mother of T'Shael. She served as master scientist and Provost of the Vulcan Science Academy, but left this position to serve as chief science officer aboard the USS Intrepid, despite her husband being very sick. She died when the ship was lost with all hands. (TOS novel: Dwellers in the Crucible)
