According to the Kaminoan legend The Tale of the Aiwha Pod, the Ancient Trench was an underwater location on the world of Kamino and was the site of a battle between the monster-god Protas and the sentient kikla. The kikla had assembled an army, and they challenged Protas for rule of the planet's oceans. Protas accepted the challenge, and after a month of fighting, he defeated the challengers.
