The 58th Sector Army, nicknamed Red Banner Command, later the 58th Army, was a joint sector army established by order of Emperor Palpatine in the early months of the Galactic Empire, made up of Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, and Stormtrooper Corps units. Imperial Central Command wanted a mobile sector army that could respond to other sectors quickly, in the event of an attack or other emergency. However, it was officially posted in the Javin sector, where it's headquarters were located. The 58th Sector Army was formed of several of the newest stormtrooper, Army, and Navy units in 19 BBY. However, as the unit gained experience, more elite troops were accepted into it. As a result, the 58th became known as one of the best sector armies in the Empire.
