With Eric and Val walking on eggshells around each other, Eric confides in Diane. As he opens up to her, he finds strength and soon becomes resolute that he won't let Val's HIV status ruin their marriage. With a new sense of purpose, Eric sets about wooing Val. Val is wary when he suggests they go upstairs, not wanting to rush him. Eric assures her that he is ready. Meanwhile, Pete and Debbie continue to keep their dalliances a secret and agree to meet again. Later, Ross is surprised when an upbeat Debbie fails to hold a grudge about his behaviour at the garage and is encouraged when she agrees to have a drink with him in the pub. At The Woolpack, Ross is suspicious when Debbie heads off under the premise of having other plans and similarly Pete is reluctant to stay, suggesting he has stuf
