M3-8Z was an astromech droid at the time of the Galactic War. After the Conquest of Makeb, it was sent to Keylander Station as a courier by Supreme Commander Jace Malcom to help him enlist the services of the Republic strike force regarding the mysteries surrounding the survival of the planet, Makeb.
