The Commander is a playable unit in Metal Slug Attack. Like his Metal Slug 5 counterpart, the Commander issues out sortie orders, though he can only send out standard Hover Units. While he is somewhat impractical to use in combat, the Commander is useful in a part/full Ptolemaic Army deck, as File:MSA Skill small +.png 4 gives a damage boost to all Ptolemaic Army units.
