Darth Vader, previously Anakin Skywalker, was a Dark Lord of the Sith. As a Jedi, Skywalker was believed to be the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy, one who would bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith, which was why the Jedi Council chose to bend the Jedi Code and permit his training. Years later, at the end of the Clone Wars, he turned to the dark side and became the apprentice of Darth Sidious, better known as Palpatine. Now known as Darth Vader, the former Jedi helped execute Order 66, a Jedi Purge, which included him also attempting to kill his own Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Few Jedi survived, and Palpatine transformed the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire.
