Baron Illios Valentis deposed Marak Greysteel in 211AC to take over the leadership of Port Blacksand. He was by trade a merchant who turned to ruthless piracy. This combination made him the ideal person to lead Port Blacksand into a prosperous age. He encouraged stable growth and trade and under him Port Blacksand prospered. In 219AC he established the city militia under his brother Drakna, which did more to maintain corruption than anything else. He was deposed and hanged from the highest tower of his palace by Lord Varek Azzur in 252AC.
