Sister Jones was the senior sister in casualty who attended some of the residents who were sent to hospital following the coach crash on the way back from the Lake District in November 1969. The sister was tough on staff and patients alike and expected her instructions to be obeyed. When Ena Sharples fainted while waiting to be seen, the sister told off the nurse for letting Ena bully her into letting all her friends be seen before her. She also refused to give Hilda Ogden Stan's whereabouts in the hospital, claiming to be too busy. She showed her softer side occasionally, such as when she gave the nurse two minutes to call her young man but sternly reminded her that it was a hospital.
