[Source] The cybernetic chamber was a device developed by Imperial scientists during the Galactic Civil War. A large chamber about the size of a starfighter cockpit, it had a single seat within it and used a laserwave link to transmit Force energies long distances, creating a cybernetic link. Wired into a probe droid, Darth Vader could tap into the minds of people within range of the droid, even if it were light years away.
