For a Thousand Years was the Slovenian entry at the 1999 Contest performed by returning artist Darja Švajger, who previously took part for her country in 1995 with Prisluhni mi. This was the first Slovenian entry to be performed in English due to the relaxation of the language rule. It was performed sixth in the running order, after Precious of the United Kingdom, and before Tuğba Önal & Grup Mistik of Turkey. Švajger finished just outside the top ten, placing 11th this time around with 50 points - four places lower than in 1995.
