The Rhea was built to Mk II Loknar-class specifications and entered active service around reference stardate 1/9809 (circa the year 2256). On stardate 2/1305 (circa 2271), the Rhea re-entered active service after a refit to Mk IV specifications, which saw equipped with the new FWD-2 warp drive and modifications to her torpedo launchers to fire the new FP-1 torpedoes.
