A magfield sensor ball was an outdated sensory input device utilized with Mark II reactor drone droids and other simple labor droids. The sensor ball was a simple metal ball contained in a wire cage that allowed a droid to "perceive" its surroundings any time the ball hit the cage. This situation was usually encountered when the droid ran into an obstacle or had begun to tip over.
