Darker than Black is a Japanese anime television series directed and written by Tensai Okamura, animated by Bones, and produced by Aniplex that originally aired 25 episodes from April 5, 2007 to September 27, 2007. Darker than Black was originally written for anime form and is not based on any other media. However, a manga has been created based on it. The series tells of the exploits of Hei and his Syndicate comrades operating in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo in his pursuit to discover the secrets behind the Hell's Gate.
