In May 2012, Caroll Spinney and Oscar the Grouch were keynote speakers at the Philippine Pediatric Society's annual convention. Later on, Spinney appeared in an interview with the Harry Knowles puppet (from Ain't It Cool News) where he briefly mentioned his trip to the country and learning about the Filipino word for "hugs" (yakap).
