Peel was a fan of Ike Turner's work since the 60's and would often play tracks from him on his show. In the 80's, Peel used Ike's instrumental 'Prancin', as the theme tune for his show on Dutch radio station VPRO, which he first presented on 10 October 1984 (VPRO).
