The first control nexus was purchased, transported to, and erected on Yanibar in 3 BBY. Sales of aging weapons and especially the pharmaceutical ylannock had provided enough prosperity for the colony to invest in the technology. The main means of payment for the towers, though, was captured Imperial funds secured in the colony's foundation. By placing that much investment into the technology, the Council committed significant financial resources, but it was deemed necessary due to the severity of the weather. It was successful in alleviating the danger and hardship caused by the weather, but was hampered by a limited range and overuse. Lack of experience operating it as well as difficulties providing enough energy to the device meant that it was less than optimally effective.
