The unnamed Schoolboy asked for a day-old unsold muffin from Corner Shop owner Irma Barlow but later on brought it back saying it was stale, even though he had eaten half of it. He threatened to bring his mum who he said would cause a real row in the shop. As Irma and David were expecting Maggie and Les Clegg back to make arrangements to buy the shop, and wanting to avoid a scene, she got David to give him sixpence to send him on his way.
