The Fresnel equations (or Fresnel conditions), deduced by Augustin-Jean Fresnel (File:Loudspeaker.svg /frɛˈnɛl/), describe the behaviour of light when moving between media of differing refractive indices. The reflection of light that the equations predict is known as Fresnel reflection.
