Galen Marek was the son of Jedi Knights Kento Marek and Mallie Marek. While both his parents were killed, Mallie by Trandoshan slavers and Kento at the hands of Darth Vader, Marek was abducted by the Dark Lord and trained as a secret Sith Apprentice codenamed Starkiller.
