an Entity in Data Space: dbkwik.org

A gravimetric distortion or gravimetric field distortion was a type of spatial anomaly that could occur in association with various interstellar phenomena. Such distortions could pose a danger to spacecraft by trapping them and exposing them to high levels of gravimetric shear. (DS9: "Behind the Lines") According to the Enterprise database, warp output must be kept within 300–312 millicochranes to prevent fusion of the dilithium matrix, unless the ship is within two parsecs of a class C gravimetric field distortion. (ENT: "Doctor's Orders")
