The Weegiscientists claim in their book, Weegiscientists Smell Nice Versus Other Fakegees, A Study, they claim that they were created by Weegee, who stared too long at his test subjects in Weegiture Labs, and they turned into science-obsessed Weegee Clones. Weegee had been preforming an experiment found in the lab of Dr. Scientistgee. And it worked, creating Weegiscientists. That still doesn't explain how more of them turn up every day.
