Areu abandoned Manga's unit after his girlfriend Rianna was killed during an ambush by Darth causing , Areu to doubt his ability to protect the world since he was unable to protect the girl he loved. Area arrives to help the Lightning Ranger's team when they are overpowered by Darth. With Mar's help, Areu regains his self-confidence and assists the team in defeating Magma Darth, but at the cost of his powers. At the end, he leaves the Lightning team to teach laser tag to children with a renewed sense of hope. Areu did not participate in the Legend War because he had already lost his powers.
