In 2267, the USS Enterprise was scheduled to deliver supplies to the colony when the ship was intercepted by Trelane's planet Gothos. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos" ) Colony Beta VI was only seen in the remastered version of "The Squire of Gothos". The planet was a reuse of Sigma Iotia II as seen in the remastered "A Piece of the Action" . According to Star Trek Maps (p. 24) the colony was established in 2195, with a population consisting primarily of Humans and Andorians. According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), in 2378, Beta VI was a Federation member.
