Originally malevolent spirits that haunt the Lotschental. During festivals the townspeople would wear cow or goat spirit masks that resemble the Tschaggatta's mask. These days the Tschaggatta will just shake someone, smacking their bum or throw snow all over them. Once upon a time though, the Tschaggatta had a much nastier bag of tricks. Young women were smeared with soot and blood and young boys would be haunted by faces for hours after a parade.
