The Serbian Liberation Front was a Serbian nationalist paramilitary group, a guerilla movement composed of former members of groups such the Yugoslav Internal State Security Service, the Serbian Army, and local police. The group took as their insignia a blue rose on a red field, likely in reference to the epic poem The Rose of Kosovo. Operating in independent cells of three to five men, the Serbian Liberation Front swelled from about five hundred active members in 1988 to a few thousand by 1999. In 2001, the organization was banned by the Serbian government.
