The Time of Madness is the period after the Dark One tainted saidin, when Lews Therin Telamon, the Hundred Companions, and many other male channelers were driven mad. This period also corresponds to the Breaking of The World. In later times it has come down that Aes Sedai were the ones who shattered the world, but it is forgotten that they were male.
