Sasha is the identical sister of Queen Starsha of the planet Iscandar. Sasha travels to the solar system to deliver Starsha's message to Earth, but her ship is shot down and crashes on Mars. After leaving her escape pod, she suffocates in the Martian atmosphere before being found by Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima ("SOS Earth! Revive Space Battleship Yamato!"). A human woman, Yuki Mori, closely resembles Sasha, enough for Starsha to confuse Mori with Sasha when the two meet on Iscandar ("Iscandar! A Dying Planet of Love!").
