The Second Great Depression was a very severe worldwide economic depression in the early 21st century. The timing of the Great Depression varied across nations, but in most countries it started in about 2012 and lasted until the late 2020s and in some countries into 2030. It was the longest, most widespread, and deepest depression in world history, and its effects are still apparent in the 22nd century in formerly booming US cities such as Los Angeles. The depression originated in the United States, triggered by the after effects of the unrelated Late 2000s Recession, but quickly spread to nearly every country in the world.
