Sue Ellen Ewing was raised by a single mother, Patricia Shepard, with one sister, Kristin. She was raised to be the perfect wife for a wealthy Texan man, and went to University of Texas, was invited to join all the sororities but pledged one, and was part of the cheerleading team. She was also Miss Texas in the Miss America pageant.
