The firm was created in 1933 and was based in Castle House near Lady's Bridge along the River Don in Sheffield city centre. The Hancock and Lant building, as it is also referred to, is a local landmark but was sold by the Lant family five years ago and since been incorporated into an apartment development known as a iQuarter. Hancock and Lant moved to new premises on Queens Road but trade has never been the same since they moved there.
