Camelia Alina Potec ( Brăila , February 19 1982 ) is a Romanian swimmer , specializing in the freestyle , which at the Olympic Games in Athens ( 2004 ) won the gold medal in the 200 meter freestyle. Potec is a member of the Liceul cu Program Sportiv - Club Sportiv Municipal , and is trained by Ion Ionescu. Her international debut them in 1995 at the European Youth Olympic Days, where the stayer both the 100 (1.04,68) and 200mbackstroke (2.20,36) won. Her breakthrough in the seniors followed in 1997 , when she won the bronze medal in the 200 free at the European Championships long course (50 meters) in Seville .
