Under the stewardship of Teclis the wizards of the Empire received erudition in the ways of magic and the means to manipulate the eight winds. Teclis quickly released that humans were only capable of manipulating a single wind and that overextension lead to insanity and/or chaotic corruption. In light of this, Teclis founded eight independent orders, one for each of the eight winds, these would eventually become the Colleges of Magic. Teclis returned to Ulthuan in 2325. Today, each college has their own leader known as a Patriarch. One of their number is known as the Supreme Patriarch and serves as the ultimate director of the colleges.
